Astoria Blvd. ADA Station Upgrades

Line, “B” Division (BMT), in the Borough of Queens.

Project consists of the removal of the complete station electrical, communications, heat trace and fire alarm systems including four (4) new ADA Elevators.    Electrical scope of work included new 1200 Amp service for the station, new electrical distribution room consisting of new 3-bay 1200 Amp distribution panel, new 800 Amp distribution panel for the four elevators, new heat trace control panel and branch wiring system consisting of nine new branch circuit panels throughout the station. The project also included new wiring and panel for 600 Volt DC emergency lighting and new wiring and tie-ins of the communication system to the main NYCTA system.

The electrical work included wiring of the new token booth, new ADA compliant elevators including all fire alarm and communications wiring and installations throughout.  All new lighting was installed in the mezzanine and all rooms and stairs, wiring of Billboards and new CIS information signs on mezzanine and platforms. DBC installed roughly 2600 LF of new lighting on the platforms, 22 new pole lights equipped with speakers which included 106 new speakers wired into the NYCTA system, six (6) new street lights on the roadway and new electrical service to the bus stop and canopies.

The work included extensive coordination with all stake holders including NYCTA, Con-Edison, DOT, and the Prime contractor, Forte Construction. Responsibilities also included all submittals, shop drawing, testing and inspections for all electrical scope of work.
