Graphics Communication High School Cafeteria Renovation

DBC. performed a gut renovation of a 7,500 SF school Cafeteria in an occupied facility in Manhattan. The project involved everything from asbestos abatement, complete MEP upgrades, new bathrooms, new ceiling, wall and floor construction, new ceramic tile throughout, new kitchen and food service equipment and FF&E installation.

The discovery of unsuitable plumbing systems required DBC to mobilize to remove 70% of the existing floor slab, complete soil excavation, sheeting and shoring, stockpiling, environmental testing and disposal of soils in order to complete the replacement of the sanitary and acid waste lines buried in the slab six feet below grade. Our experience working in occupied, sensitive spaces and within the public sector allowed DBC to fast track the project mobilizing night and weekend crews in order to bring in the project on time and on budget.

The team provided comprehensive at risk general contracting services for this fast-tracked project.  The project completed in August and opened in September 2012, for the start of the school year, on schedule and within budget.
